2024 Northeast Business Deans Association Conference

With a theme of Managing Risk in Higher Education, the 2024 NEBDA conference opened with a greeting and remarks from the St. John’s University provost focusing on some of the key risks that many universities in the northeast region are faced with. After a greeting from the host Dean Maciek Nowak, the sessions opened with a workshop that explored the most pressing risks attendees currently face. With this baseline, later sessions focused on perspectives from a university’s Chief Risk Officer, the head of one of the largest academic insurance providers, and a strategic consultant. Attendees had the opportunity to network with each other throughout the day as well as at two dinners bookending the conference. Over 50 attendees representing 27 universities and seven organizations took part in the conference.

The 2023 NEBDA conference commenced with a warm welcome from the president and host Dean Amy Zeng. Additionally, Kathy Henderson from ETS provided quick remarks, adding her insights to the event's opening moments. The rest of the day was marked by insightful presentations and panels, making it a highly collaborative and exciting gathering with over 50 attendees and speakers representing 30 institutions, including two from Canada, and involving 7 organizations and 4 sponsors. Topics ranged from the challenges faced by business school deans to the current landscape of business education and discussions on AI, fintech, accreditation updates, career skills in the digital domain, and immersive learning. Overall, the conference fostered a collaborative and exciting atmosphere, bringing together diverse perspectives and valuable discussions.
